I was excited to get this speaker, as it meant I could play Atmos via the 4K Max Firestick to the Echo Studio. Except it doesn’t work correctly, and there are multiple threads across the net complaining about it. It will work for a while, but as soon as you switch the TV off, it loses the connection. There is now no sound coming from the Echo Studio, the Studio is silent, and the ONLY way to get the sound back again is to reboot the Firestick every damn time. I have spoken to Amazon about this several times and it still hasn’t been fixed.

I bought the Amazon Echo Studio a few weeks ago, after spending some time deliberating on how similar types of other speakers from BOSE Sonos, Sony etc would match up.
If you’re on a budget, but can manage around this cost, then look no further.
Other manufacturers ‘may’ offer better quality sound, but then there will be something lacking such as the range of connectivity.
Or they will not have the same range of music formats.
Or, you’ll end up spending substantially more than this costs.
So bang for bucks, you can’t do much better.
The only niggle is that I connect mine to my Windows 10 computer, and it’s a bit of a pain to do so. But if you look online, there’s plenty of 3rd party advice on how to do it. And it is very easy once you’ve read up.
1st Update…
*Connecting to Windows 11 is yet again a bit of a pain if you want bluetooth, but for reasons I do not understand, Windows 11 keeps disconnecting from it.
In the end, I’ve used an AUX cable and it does the job. But rubbish if you want to keep your wires down to a minimum, especially round your computer.*
But otherwise, as a standalone device, it’s easy peasy.
And I’ve not sussed out how to connect it successfully to my Apple Mac. It isn’t straightforward.

I had been pondering for about a year whether or not to purchase the Echo studio. I had read review after review, some of which were really good and some that were OK. In the end I decided to go for it and decide for myself. Well I’m glad I did. This speaker sounds great. we listen to a wide range of music from classical to 60’s and my wife’s favourite 80’s music all of which the speaker handles really well. It sounds good at both low and higher volumes with no noticeable distortion. As for the 3D and Atmos experience, it is limited but I wasn’t really expecting it to be fantastic from a single speaker housing, no matter how many speakers it has inside.

As a double bass player I was expecting the usual horrobly over emphasised bass thar most consumer audio equipment suffers from. But it’s actually not to bad after all. I’ve just turned the bass down a single notch and my eclectic collection of flac encoded music sounds OK. Sure, it’s not audiophile or mix monitor flat quality but very livable with.
I still haven’t decide if I like the stereo enhancement. It’s most good but a few recordings suffer.
Now we just need a decent home audio streaming skill. Plex is just awful.
